Wine was always been a significant part of Grecian culture and was well-established before 2000 B.C. The Greeks propagated the vine by colonization throughout the Mediterranean. Wine was important for battle festivities, to finalize agreements and contracts and for sacrifice, prayer and burial ceremonies.
